    Position Overview

    The Managed Service Engineer will use extensive knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to maintain and enhance all network infrastructure, server/storage hardware, vitalization technology, application management as well as end user support.

     

    This position participates in the planning and implementation of procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with corporate mission, industry best practices and regulatory requirements. 

     

    The ideal individual for this role exhibits strong organizational and communications skills as well as a passion for information technology.

    Responsibilities

    • Excellent knowledge of computer servers and network systems to ensure high levels of availability and security, which includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining and optimizing server, storage, and network hardware, software, and communication links.
    • Proven experience in a network administrator role with routing and switching, firewalls, internet VPN’s, remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution
    • Manage server operations and maintenance for all production systems, including file, e-mail, vitalization, and backup, to ensure the highest levels of security, availability and performance.
    • Perform server, storage, and network design and capacity planning.
    • Conduct research on server, storage, and network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
    • Keep abreast of latest technology and industry trends, recommends equipment and system enhancements, upgrades and/or replacements as necessary to meet the IT needs of the organization.

    • Research and make recommendations on server system administration
    • Define network policies and procedures
    • Install and integrate new server hardware and applications
    • Support and administer third-party applications
    • Monitor network performance (availability, utilization, throughput, goodput, and latency) and test for weaknesses
    • Fully support, configure, maintain and upgrade corporate customer’s networks and in-house servers
    • Proven ability to analyze, define and make proposals tied to an IT infrastructure.
    • Drive to take personal ownership of issues, and the habit of following up with internal customers, co-workers and employees until issues are resolved and projects completed.
