    Position Overview

    We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our dynamic team. This candidate will be part of the IT-Enterprise Information Management team and will be expected to take a lead role in SQL Server Database across the development, quality assurance and production environments for multiple applications.  Additionally, they will assist in the ongoing development and implementation of technical best practices for SQL database administration.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Installation, configuration and patching of SQL database instances, including some multi-instance server installations.
    • Ensure all databases are backed up and that restores are tested.
    • Deploy code across Quality Assurance and Production environments (internal as well as 3rd party applications).
    • Troubleshooting failed jobs and initiating break/fix solutions.
    • Performance tuning and optimization.
    • Scheduled and ad-hoc database overlays between environments.
    • Service Now: Familiarity with the Service Now application for ticket management.
    • DBA: Proven work experience as a DBA with experience in Data Extraction, Transformation, and Loading, Specialized Data Handling. Excellent knowledge of Data Backup and Recovery, Security, Authentication, and SQL.  Experience with Capacity Planning, Performance Monitoring and Tuning.  Ability to read explain plans, etc.
    • Oracle, MS SQL, Postgress: Experience with databases and code.  (Do not expect candidate to have in depth experience with all three. Expect experience with at least MS SQL.)
    • MS SQL Server: Experience with Windows SQL Server 2008 R2, 2012 R2, 2016 R2
    • DB Design, documentation, coding: Familiarity with

    Qualifications

    • Administration experience with MS SQL 2005 through 2014, with basic knowledge of SSIS, SSAS, SSRS.
    • Native monitoring solutions using database mail and alerts.
    • Previous SQL developer experience.
    • Physical file structures and placement within the SQL Server environment.
    • Database maintenance tasks and index maintenance.
    • Database Console Command checks (DBCC).
    • Database Disaster Recovery planning and testing.
    • Database Security, via both SQL logins and Windows authentication.
    • Experience with Active Directory groups, as they pertain to database permissions.
    • Basic understanding of enterprise environments that include Domain Name System, Firewalls, Active Directory, SAN Storage and VMWare.
    • Familiar with a mixed Linux/Windows environment and the database connection settings in each.
    • On-call support as required.
    • 4 year degree in IT, Business Administration, or related field.
    • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in a similar role.

    Preferred/Additional:

    •  SAP ECC experience would be helpful.
    • Knowledge of SAP Replication Server (administration and deployment) would be helpful.
    • CommVault data protection and information management solutions experience would be helpful.
    • Experience with Idera Diagnostic Manager would be helpful.
