    Position Overview

    The role of the Information Security Technician is seen as a working position providing security support and as well as maintaining the customer relationship for day-to-day activities.


    Security Support Technician Responsibilities:

    The Security Technician main responsibility is for granting user rights and permissions to different groups. Work with other information security staff to ensure that daily security issues are responded to as defined by IT policies and procedures


    Other responsibilities are tied to taking phone calls, emails, incident request and service request from the end user community who require user rights or certain access. This includes receiving, prioritizing, and actively resolving end user security requests.

    • Provide high quality security support to each end user by assisting them with service requests and resolving IT user group access support needs to minimize delays related to security issues across the organization.
    • Proved a high level of customer service tied to every interaction with an end-user

    Skills and Attributes Required:

    • Must possess a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
    • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical people
    • Ability to recognize, analyze, and effectively solve problems in a timely and organized manner using industry best practices and procedures
    • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
    • Superior attitude- consistently positive, courteous and a respectful demeanor
    • Add/Remove users from Security Groups
    • Work in Exchange Management Console to add/delete/modify email accounts.

    • Work in Active Directory  to add/delete/modify accounts.

    • Create user accounts

    • Run reports on who’s in the Security Groups- Access Audits

    • Process requests out of the COMPREQ Queue- strong written/verbal communication required

    • Forensics

    • PowerShell-not a need to know but helps


    Experience and Educational Requirement 

    • Security+ or equivalent work experience desired but not needed
    • Attention to detail and accuracy a must
    • Strong organizational skills and follow-up abilities
    • Strong sense of teamwork and initiative
    • Motivated, focused and strong desire to learn
    • Experience working with Enterprise level customers

    Physical Requirements (Describe the position in terms of amount of time standing, sitting, walking around, lifting and bending, which duties require the most effort, and what business tools are utilized regularly): Normally works in a general office environment with the use of computer, printer, telephone, copier, fax, and calculator. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
