Position Overview

Respond to and resolve complex PC, Server and networking problems via onsite, phone and email for a broad range of systems, both hardware and software.  Focus on in-depth problem analysis of Microsoft, Networking, Desktop and VMWare products as well as company applications.  Manage day-to-day administration of network servers, applications and desktop products

Responsibilities

  • Install, upgrade, configure, maintain, and support computer networks, servers, workstations, and communications equipment.
  • Implement new domain users, user environments, software, printing access and security for applications being delivered (using Active Directory, etc).
  • Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose network problems (LAN/WAN)
  • Maintain and monitor all network and server equipment and maintain uptime
  • Perform day to day administration duties on network, servers, PC’s and applications.
  • Perform database server (MSSQL, Progress) monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Perform system software upgrades on servers and network equipment when needed.
  • Administration of hardware and software contracts/maintenance renewals in a timely manner
  • Administer DNS and website administration/availability of our 3 websites
  • Maintain specific systems related to Imaging, WSUS, Anti-Virus, etc.
  • Ensure availability of printers and copiers on the network and their functionality.

 

Provide users with network technical support.

  • Respond to the needs and questions of users concerning their access & usage of services.
  • Respond to user inquiries on the telephone, in person, and by e-mail.
  • Document user problems, resolutions & changes to existing environment.
  • Plan and schedule resolution to user issues problems.
  • Interface with vendor technical support resources when/if required.
  • Support users accessing existing, new or modified services.
  • Support remote user access via SSL-VPN and in our remote facilities.

 

Provide training for users:

  • Microsoft Outlook, Office, Access to company applications
  • Specific core company applications as assigned

 

Miscellaneous:

  • Troubleshoot programming code
  • Create reports
  • Update programming code

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a related technical discipline.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in LAN/WAN configurations, familiarity with Cisco IOS.
  • Experience with Active Directory domains, Windows 2003-2012 R2 Server.
  • Experience with VMWare
  • Familiarity with MSSQL database administration.
  • Familiarity with server virtualization technology. Hyper-V experience a plus.
  • A+, CCNA or greater, VMWare certifications a plus.
  • Familiarity with Veeam backup solutions.
  • Basic business math including algebra.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English.
  • Excellent interpersonal and follow-up skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent team work skills.
  • Adaptable, flexible, and patient.
  • Ability to work with or without direct supervision.
